Durant Public Schools is seeking applicants for the position of Curriculum Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in administration or curriculum and instruction required
- Valid teacher certificate and appropriate administrator certification
- Minimum of ten (10) years of combined teaching and/or administrative experience
- Such alternatives or additional qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate

JOB GOAL
To serve as a member of the Superintendent’s administrative team and provide leadership for school improvement and instructional excellence throughout the district. The Curriculum Director assumes overall responsibility for the supervision of all instructional programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate the development and implementation of district long-range goals.
- Serve as District Test Coordinator.
- Disseminate site and district data to support building administrators in school improvement efforts.
- Facilitate professional development, committee meetings, and study groups.
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of early childhood and secondary summer school programs.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop a highly effective K-12 administrative team.
- Coordinate the implementation of curricular and instructional initiatives across the district.
- Assist in the recruiting, hiring, placement, and assignment of instructional personnel.
- Assist in the coordination of school enrollment processes.
- Remain informed on current educational trends and best practices; disseminate relevant professional information to administrators and staff.
- Provide leadership in the implementation of effective, research-based instructional practices to increase student achievement.
- Facilitate district committees focused on reviewing best practices, programs, and services, particularly at the secondary level.
- Participate in local, state, and national leadership groups.
- Facilitate the textbook adoption process.
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Eleven-month contract with compensation based on the Board-approved salary schedule.
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools.
Current, continuing contract, employees that wish to be considered for a transfer to this position, must apply via School Spring within 3 days of this posting to be considered.
